In 2020, 86 works were delivered to the country by the Ministry of Infrastructure. In the highway area, there were 1,259 kilometers of duplication, paving and construction. The year will end with the granting of 12 infrastructure assets, between 9 auctions and 3 unprecedented early renewals.

The figures are part of the balance sheet presented on Monday (14) by the Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas. The minister pointed out that this was a year of challenges, but the results show that they were overcome.

“The year 2020 was extremely challenging, we were faced with an unexpected situation that was the coronavirus and we tried to follow the determination of the President, not deviate from the goals, from our focus,” the minister said.

According to the minister, in 2020 the level of execution of works and budget was raised. “We concluded the month of October with more than 90% of our budget released and executed,” he detailed.

Highways

Highway works have reached the five regions of the country. Among them are the completion of 43 kilometers of duplication on BR-381/MG, 37 kilometers of paving on BR-419/MG and 32 kilometers of paving in the Trans-Amazon (BR-230/PA).

Airports and ports

In 2020 the expansion of the airports of Foz do Iguaçu (PR), Fortaleza (CE) and Campo Grande (MS) was completed. Some of the other deliveries were the new boarding terminal at Navegantes airport (SC), the Atalaia Pier in the Port of Vitória (ES), six small ports (IP4s) in the Amazon region and dredging the Port of Rio Grande.

Railway

In the area of railways, one of the highlights was the anticipation of the concessions of the Malha Paulista concessions and the central and south railways of the North-South Railway, in October. The ministry will receive the amount of R$5.1 billion for the partial anticipation of grants.

Concessions

32 auctions or asset extensions have already been made with R$ 26.5 billion of contracted investments and R$ 8.6 billion of grants collected. There were 12 airports, 15 port terminals, three highways, one railway and an early extension. There are still extensions and auctions scheduled for this December.

“We continue to carry out the largest infrastructure concession program in the world. It is R$264 billion that will be hired by the end of 2022. We have absolute confidence that we will be able to deliver the results, because we have the portfolio that is something that draws attention, that activates the interest of the foreign investor”, said Minister Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas.

Traffic law

The sanction of the new Brazilian Traffic Code with changes to simplify and reduce bureaucracy, reduce costs and invest in educational measures was another important achievement of the folder, headed by the National Traffic Department (Denatran).

Agenda 2021

Planning for next year is more than 50 concessions, with 23 airports; 17 port terminals; the concession of two railways and the early renovation of one more; in addition to 11 lots of highways. There will still be the privatization of the Docks Company of Espírito Santo (Codesa).

Concessions, privatizations and renovations should yield R$ 137.5 billion in contracted investments and almost R$ 3 billion in grants, according to the ministry.
